Device Repair Quote & Assessment Christchurch
Not sure what is wrong with your laptop, MacBook or game console?
LaptopFixNZ provides repair quotes and device assessment from our Wigram workshop in Christchurch. Tell us your device model and the problem you are experiencing, and we can advise on the likely repair options, pricing and next step.
Some repairs can be quoted from the model number and visible damage. More complex faults may require diagnosis before we can confirm the exact repair cost.
What We Need to Give You a Repair Quote
Providing a few details about your device helps us identify the correct repair options and give you more accurate information before you visit.
Device Make and Model
Send us the full model number where possible. For example, Dell Inspiron 15, Lenovo IdeaPad 5, MacBook A2337 or PlayStation 5.
Describe the Problem
Tell us what the device is doing, such as no power, not charging, broken screen, overheating, damaged hinge or unexpected shutdowns.
Photos of Visible Damage
Photos are especially useful for broken screens, damaged hinges, charging ports, casing damage and liquid-related physical damage.
Repair History
Let us know if the device has previously been repaired, opened, dropped or exposed to liquid, as this may affect diagnosis.
Can We Quote the Repair Without Seeing the Device?
In some cases, yes. If the fault is clear and we can confirm the exact device model and required part, we may be able to provide a repair quote before seeing the device. More complex faults usually require diagnosis first.
A Quote May Be Possible From the Model Number
For faults such as a visibly cracked laptop screen, known battery replacement or some damaged ports, we may be able to provide an estimated or fixed repair price once we confirm the exact model and required part.
Diagnosis May Be Required
Symptoms such as no power, intermittent charging, unexpected shutdowns, liquid damage or display faults can have several possible causes. In these cases, the device may need to be tested before we can confirm the correct repair and price.
Why diagnosis matters: We do not recommend replacing parts based only on symptoms when several different components could cause the same fault.
Common Device Problems We Can Assess
If you are not sure what repair your device needs, we can assess the symptoms, identify the likely cause and advise on the most appropriate next step.
Not sure which repair service you need? Send us your device model and symptoms and we’ll advise on the most appropriate next step.
How Our Repair Quote & Assessment Process Works
Every fault is different. Some repairs can be quoted from the device model and symptoms, while others require testing or diagnostic work before the exact cause and repair cost can be confirmed.
Tell Us About the Device
Send us the device make, model and a description of the problem. Photos can also be helpful if there is visible damage such as a cracked screen, damaged hinge, casing damage or broken charging port.
We Review the Information
We determine whether the repair can be quoted from the information provided or whether the device needs to be inspected and tested.
If the exact cause is unknown, we can usually provide an approximate repair price range based on the symptoms before diagnostic work begins.
Bring or Send the Device
If testing is required, you can bring the device to our workshop at 1 Romanee Lane, Wigram, Christchurch.
Customers outside Christchurch can also send eligible devices through our nationwide mail-in repair service.
We Diagnose the Fault and Repair Options
We inspect and test the device to identify the cause of the problem. Depending on the fault, diagnosis may require component testing, disassembly or attempting part of the repair before the exact cause can be confirmed.
Once we have identified the fault or established the available repair options, we will explain the findings and advise you of the expected repair cost.
We Confirm the Outcome and Next Step
Once the assessment or diagnostic work is complete, we will explain what we found and discuss the available repair options with you.
If you would like us to identify the exact fault but decide not to proceed with the repair, a diagnostic fee of $50–$100 may apply depending on the time and complexity of the diagnosis.
If you proceed with the repair, the diagnostic fee is normally credited toward the repair where applicable.
Why diagnosis may be necessary: The same symptom can sometimes be caused by several different components. Testing the device helps us identify the actual fault rather than replacing parts unnecessarily.

Can you give me a repair quote without seeing the device?
Sometimes. If we can identify the required part from the model number and the fault is clear, we may be able to provide a quote before seeing the device. More complex faults usually require diagnosis.
What information should I send for a quote?
Send the device brand, full model number, a description of the problem and photos if there is visible physical damage.
Do I need to bring my device in?
Not always. Some repairs can be quoted from the information you provide. If testing is needed to identify the cause of the fault, the device will need to be inspected.
Why can different faults cause the same symptoms?
For example, a laptop that does not charge may have a battery, charging port, charger or motherboard charging-circuit fault. Diagnosis helps identify the actual cause before parts are replaced.
Will you confirm the price before repairing my device?
Yes. Where diagnosis is required, we confirm the repair option and price before proceeding with the agreed work.
Can I send my device if I live outside Christchurch?
Yes. LaptopFixNZ provides a nationwide mail-in repair service for customers throughout New Zealand.
